HOMEBUYER ORIENTATION

Learn about the ins and outs of homeownership, down payment assistance programs, and other homebuying topics.

The orientation class provides information on preparing for homeownership, qualifying for a mortgage, shopping for a home, and a brief overview of down payment assistance programs.

Class Topics:

  • The ins and outs of homeownership - is it right for you now, or in the future?

  • What it takes to become a successful homeowner

  • Important homebuying topics like qualifying for a mortgage

  • Information about down payment assistance programs that can help you - achieve homeownership with less money down

We recommend that you complete the Financial Fitness Class, Homebuyer Orientation Class, and set up a one-on-one counseling session before proceeding to the Homebuyer Workshop. Homebuyer Orientations are typically offered twice a month, both virtually (mornings) and in person (evenings). Can’t make a class? Contact counseling@housingchannel.org or 817.924.5091 to schedule a one-on-one session or sign up for a future class.

Before you register: A minimum annual household income of $46,380 to participate in Homebuyer Orientation and Homebuyer Workshop classes. If your income is below this level, please visit our resource page to find out more.
