Completion of the Homebuyer Orientation class is the first step and is required prior to attending the Homebuyer Workshop.  

Housing Channel’s Homebuyer Workshop, typically offered one Saturday each month, is an information-packed seminar for first-time homebuyers. This free all-day workshop will walk you through getting the loan that’s right for your household budget, shopping for your dream home and information on inspecting and insuring your new home. A variety of housing professionals participate in the interactive class to give you a chance to ask questions that are important to you.

Completion of this workshop provides clients with a certificate required to participate in HUD-sponsored homebuyer financial assistance programs.

  • How to find the home that's right for you

  • Working with a realtor

  • Down Payment Assistance Programs

  • How to qualify for a mortgage

  • Property inspections, insurance and taxes

  • Budgeting for home repair and maintenance

Before you register: A minimum annual household income of $46,380 to participate in Homebuyer Orientation and Homebuyer Workshop classes. If your income is below this level, please visit our resource page to find out more.

  • Any community member aged 18 or over is welcome to attend a Housing Channel class, regardless of income or where they live.

  • All Housing Channel classes are FREE, but registration is required.

  • We ask that only adults come to the classes. If that doesn’t work for you - consider taking a virtual class.

  • Free onsite parking is available.

  • Please feel free to bring your own snacks and drinks. If the class is an all day class, lunch will be provided.

  • In-person classes are held at Housing Channel, 851 Grainger St, Fort Worth, Texas 76104 unless otherwise stated.
