The orientation class provides information on preparing for homeownership, qualifying for a mortgage, shopping for a home, and a brief overview of down payment assistance programs. Classes are held twice a month in two convenient locations in Arlington and Fort Worth. Completion of the class is required to register for the Homebuyer Training Workshop.
Homebuyer Training Workshop
HC’s HUD-approved workshop will walk you through the entire homebuying process, including getting the loan that’s right for your household budget, shopping for your dream home, and information on inspecting and insuring and your new home. A variety of housing professionals participate in the interactive class to give you a chance to ask questions that are important to you. Completion of the training workshop also provides clients with a certificate required to participate in HUD-sponsored homebuyer financial assistance programs.
Homebuyer Financial Literacy
The homebuyer financial literacy class is the first step to successful management of day-to-day finances, which will get you on the road to realize your life goals, including homeownership. This class will provide the tools and resources to help you improve your credit, develop and manage a budget, and help you build savings for a down payment, college, or retirement. The class also offers tips and strategies for financial management when times get tough, such as a job loss, major illness, or unexpected repairs.
Learn the ins and outs of local programs to help your clients qualify for down payment and closing cost assistance! This class will help you increase your client base and grow your business by generating more opportunities for your buyers to qualify for a home purchase. Many potential buyers are unaware of these valuable programs and this class will help you develop skills and resources to offer the financial assistance needed to help them achieve the dream of homeownership. This class is required for mortgage lenders to participate in the HUD-sponsored programs.
Housing Channel also offers individual counseling on a range of housing topics, including credit repair, pre- and post-home purchase, foreclosure prevention, and transitioning from renting to homeownership.
